Felix Munger

Felix Munger, PhD, is an educator, consultant, and researcher specializing in community safety, violence prevention, public health, and systems approaches to complex social challenges. He serves as a Research Fellow and instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada) and is a partner at Bright Thread, a strategy, facilitation, and training organization supporting governments, communities, and organizations in addressing complex social challenges.

Over the past two decades, Felix Munger has worked with municipalities, governments, universities, international organizations, and community partners across North America, Europe, and Africa. He previously served for ten years as the inaugural Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities, where he helped advance Community Safety and Well-Being approaches in more than 150 municipalities and communities across Canada. He has advised municipalities, governments, and community partners in Canada and internationally on community safety, violence prevention, and cross-sector governance. He has also contributed to international initiatives through organizations including UN-Habitat, the UN Trust Fund for Human Security, UNODC, the Global Parliament of Mayors, and United Cities and Local Governments.

Felix Munger's current work focuses on the intersections of climate change, public safety, and community resilience. In 2021, he led a Government of Canada-funded initiative Mapping the Convergence of Climate Change and Community Safety, which brought together Canadian and international experts to examine the implications of climate change for community safety and violence prevention, resulting in a national call to action. He has presented on climate change and safety at international conferences, including the European Forum for Urban Security (EFUS) and the German Congress on Crime Prevention, and has published on the topic.
